High-waisted Skirts and Other New Trends

Well ladies and gentlemen, I was right. They are back and they are just as awful as they ever were.
Okay, technically I have not seen them in the stores yet, but I have seen high rise pieces in the fashion mags. Strangely, it seems like the fashion trend is to have skirts hiked up to your boobs. I do not think the fact that it is skirts that are hiked up makes things any better. It does not matter what it is. No sort of bottoms should start at the breast bone. As with a lot of recent trends, that just seems stupid and would look really, really bad.
It would be one thing if there was a purpose to it. Maybe if you wore your skirts or pants up there you would not need a bra. You could simply use your waistband to lift the girls. That would at least give the trend some reasoning. Perhaps I would not hate it so much then. I doubt there is anything that can be said or done to make me not hate this new trend.
It just looks unnatural. No one's waist is right below the breast, not unless someone is wearing the wrong sized bra. Shoot for those people I guess the pants would need to go over the breasts. Wouldn't that look great? It could look any worse that is for sure.
I can tell you right now that you do not need to spend money on this trend. Avoid it like the plague if you are smart. If you get tempted to see how you would look with your skirt and breasts meeting, do not buy a new skirt with a high waist band. Dig in your closet. I am sure you have a long skirt in there somewhere. Just pull it up to your boobs and do a few twirls in front of the mirror. It should take less then 2.3 seconds to realize the outfit would look hideous. Trust me; it is not because you do not have the proper gear. It is just the style you are trying to pull off.
Another trend making a come back is the mini dress from the 70s. I do not outright reject this trend. It is definitely not for me but I will not think any less of people who opt to give it a try.
Mini dresses can be quite cute. They come in different styles and give off a mod vibe. The only really question is how short you should go. If your dress does not cover your butt, it is time to return it to the store you bought it from. Mid thigh is really the shortest anyone should go and if you have a little cellulite back there, maybe its time to avoid the trend all together. Cellulite happens but no one really wants to see it out on the street.
I used to watch the Brady Bunch and wonder how those girls did not have goose bumps on their butts. There was nothing really back there keeping them covered. They sure could not bend over, and then the whole backside would be exposed. But think about it, if you are showing that much skin, wouldn't you get cold? Especially if you had to sit on those, cold metal, folding chairs or even any of those hard chairs that are used in most schools.
Also making a return appearance to the fashion scene is vests. I used to own quite a few vests back in grammar school, so did everyone else. Vests are back for both men and women so now you and your man can match. If you still have some good vests in the back of your closet, now is the time to dig them out. Everyone else will have to run out and buy one.
Always watch the stores to see what the latest trends are. You may not feel the need to take part in them but you never know when one might come through that strikes your fancy.
