fashion with real world sensibility

Fashion is changing

Recently, I just watched Tyra Banks and the rest of renowned models and fashion critics go together with America's top model. On the first cycles of the search, most of the contestants are slim and tall as what models we viewed should be. However, on the following cycles of the America's top model, I noticed that most of the contestants were not tall and neither has in a way a potential for becoming a model. This I thought is changing the trend of the fashion industry. I verily understand, this is what we called a democratic fashion. Any race, sense and style can participate and give their fashion sense to what they represent most. We see in magazines, all those prototypes, blonde hair, blue eyes and long-legs are having the most advertisements while black and Asian looking girls are on the selected items only.

I give credit to Tyra's appreciation to what she sees that beauty not boxed, that beauty must get out from the conventional and explore other types. From the beauty search made by the production of Tyra, it clearly indicated the differences of beauties. Some beauties really standout not because they are tall and blond, or white, but beauty coming inside out. Among the activities and exercises, it goes to show that sometimes beauty can make its illusion through photographs. You can appreciate a black beauty through the lenses of the camera coming out in the pictures. Base on the pictures, it has got to show how other beautiful women can make dull pictures when in reality they are really beautiful. However, some pictures, though in real life the models doesn't really make that beautiful appearance still there are extra special about them because they produce perfect picture. The activity showed how others are photogenic while others are not.

It is not a guarantee then that a beautiful girl can show perfect picture if thus not a photogenic type. The model doesn't give an impact on the picture, a message of emotion that one feels when seeing a picture. It is like poetry in the picture.

What I am saying, people should learn to appreciate the kind of personality one has or even the kind of attitude one has that makes her different from other girls. The beauty not just coming from the inside but the outside combined.

Of course, in the realm of fashion especially in the higher class of fashion, we opt to have the perfect model. What do we mean by the perfect model? Of course, the perfect hair, the height, the looks, and the smile, more especially the drive to succeed. However, in this reality we have, not all women are tall but rather small, not all are slim but average and not all are beautiful. Fashion industry must look at the society as diverse in terms of form or shape, color and height. Since they are the one who designs dresses that fit to women, not women trying to fit on the clothes then they are, opt to see these differences. What is so sad even today is that large women lacks fashion sense or has difficulty selecting the right fashion for them. This is due to clothes are designed for those slimmer and average girls.

This kind of fashion sense could be a silent discrimination towards the larger and the slimmer. Eva, the last grand winner of America's top model, that was the smallest of the group, and as well as a black woman who made it said that "fashion has change". I just hope that they will continually appreciate black and even small girls to represent in hi end fashion industry. I also urge that they will look upon the farther end of the world that is Asians to make it globally. Beauty does not know boundaries thus it should not be limited.

With the upgrading of fashion and the varieties of women that can be models I just really hope, our fashion industry will set another kind of fashion. I guess fashion is again going back to the vintage that I believe is not the idea of creativity. We should set a trend that is different from the last generations of fashion to set this generation apart from them. A fashion that clothes women and don't deceive them that nudity is a fashion.
