Wedding dress trends

It may be traditional to get married in a wedding gown, but wedding dress trends are usually on the cutting edge of style. This year's dress designs span the classic spirit and sensual avant-garde.

All that glitters is not gold.
Shimmering, sparkling jewel accents are hot on this year's wedding runways. Gemstones encrust shoulders, straps and waistbands or are scattered or strewn across bodices. Jewels are also showing up as decorative accents with custom brooches and dress fitting and on accessories such as shoes and bags.

Gossamer weddings.
Super sheer fabrics are very popular in bridal attire this year, draping women in lightweight, flowing designs. A style to fit any form is available in silky chiffons, floating gauzes, and shimmering organzas. Layer sheers over more opaque satins and silks or top them with lace.

Something old.
Vintage style is making a comeback as classic lines from the 1920s and 1940s are showing up on brides. Simple and traditional forms such as the strapless a-line and empire waist sheaths are popular but including modern touches such as beading, sequins, marabou, or lace.
