The best blue jean fit

Jeans have become a wardrobe staple around the world. In the United States, most people have several pairs of jeans. So, we spend a lot of time in them, but are they flattering us?

Jeans come in a variety of styles and fabrics. Learn what the different cuts mean and make sure you are choosing the best fitting jeans for your body. Regardless of the cut, it is important to try on different makes, cuts and sizes to pick the jeans that are best for your individual needs.

Straight leg jeans do not flare at the ankle. They are fairly form fitting from the hips to the ankles. Straight leg jeans are attractive on most figures, as long as they fit well. Straight leg jeans may emphasize large hips and thighs, so those who are plump in those areas may prefer another cut.

Boot cut jeans flare just a little bit at the ankle. They add a certain amount of bulk so they are usually not the best selection for those who are heavy overall. For someone who is generally thin, but has wide hips, boot cup jeans can create a nicely balanced look.

Low-rise jeans ride a little below the waist. They create a lean look for those who are short waisted and are attractive on people without extra weight at the middle.

Hipsters are worn even lower than low-rise jeans. Hipsters are very flattering for those with small waists and curvy figures. Combined with a slight flare to the leg a hipster can add balance and the illusion of height.

Relaxed fit jeans are looser fit and usually come in straight or boot cut leg styles. They are good basic jeans and fit most body types well.

To try to minimize extra weight, avoid jeans that are skin-tight. Select styles without excess pockets, loops and bulky extras to keep the look as long and lean as possible.
